Eric Hughes joins NYWN long-term as Director of Content

ERIC HUGHES JOINS NEW YORK WRESTLING NEWS LONG-TERM AS DIRECTOR OF CONTENT

After stepping in and steering the ship throughout the 2024-25 wrestling season, New York Wrestling News is excited to announce the long-term addition of Eric Hughes, as he has accepted our position as Director of Content.

Hughes has been a longtime contributor to the New York wrestling community and stepped in last fall to steer the ship here at New York Wrestling News after the departure of the site’s previous staff. As the 2024-25 season wraps up and we look ahead to next year, Hughes will continue as our official leader of all content.

Hughes, a native of Waverly, has been entrenched in wrestling for decades. He has not only covered wrestling here in New York, but also across the country, currently holding a position with NUWAY Combat as their Operations Manager. Hughes is widely respected in the wrestling community.

The founder of New York Wrestling News, Tony Greathouse, expressed excitement around the news saying “I could not be more thrilled to have Eric sticking around long term. Ever since we created the site back in 2011, Eric has been a behind-the-scenes contributor, but stepped in when we were in a pinch and did a tremendous job of keeping everything moving forward.”

When talking about how New York Wrestling News has grown over the last decade, Greathouse was proud of the content the site has put out year in and year out but also mentions that the New York wrestling community can expect more.

"Over the past decade we've had some great staff here at NYWN," said Greathouse, "With Eric leading our team we are excited to keep stretching our content capacity and provide even more exposure for wrestling in the Empire State.  Last season was without a doubt our most in-depth, consistent coverage we have ever had and I cannot wait to see what we are able to do for New York wrestlers in 2025-26."

When talking about his contributions over the years, Hughes said “New York Wrestling News has been instrumental in elevating New York wrestling media over the course of the last 14 years, and it’s great to see our state getting such top notch media coverage.”  I am blessed to have the ability to continue contributing to the growth of New York wrestling.
