2024 Grappler Fall Classic Recap

Kalamazoo saw almost 2,000 wrestlers compete at the Grappler Fall Classic over the weekend. The 2024 iteration of the tournament saw a few changes, including college rules like three point takedowns and four point nearfalls, as well as FloWrestling live streaming the finals. The Elite finals are now under spotlights on the stage! Check out Jake Tucker's photo gallery here to see the production.

Ohio led the way in the Elite division with four champs, while Illinois had three, and Michigan and Indiana each had two. William Denny locked up the Most Outstanding Wrestler division with his dominant performance. Denny, ranked top-10 in the country at 160lbs, picked up four techs and a major decision en route to first place. In the finals, Denny cruised to a 15-0 tech over nationally ranked Jay'Den Williams (Roseville HS). Jackson Soney (IL) won the award for most falls in the least amount of time with 6 pins in just over 10 minutes of wrestling.

In the girls high school division, Michigan was the front runner, winning five of ten weights. Florida had three champs, while Tennesee and Indiana each had one. Cheyenne Frank (Oxford HS) earned the Most Outstanding Wrestler award by pinning her way through the tournament, including three pins in the first period. In the finals, Frank beat nationally ranked Kennedy Perez (Livonia Franklin) with a second period pin. Amelia Fawcett won the award for most falls in the least amount of time with 4 pins in under 3 minutes cumulatively.
